The Alabama Women's Commission solicited requests for proposals in early 2019 for a study on the use of parent technology on child development outcomes. The Universiy of Alabama, College of Environmental Sciences under the leadership of Dr. Jason Scofield was awarded the grant. The study entitled, “The Effect of Parent Technology Use on Parent-Child Interactions and Child Development Outcomes” was commissioned June 2019 for the purpose of improving and advancing the lives of women in the State of Alabama. One hundred mother-child dyads will participate in the study. Play sessions and various assessment tools will be utilized. The Commission looks forward to reviewing the research and best practices recommendations in early 2021 and making the resarch findings available to caregivers and state-policy makers across the State of Alabama.
